Mar 6, 2019Born to Jasmine and Richard Hazen on July 29, 1955, Heidi can best be described as a person who loved fiercely, gave freely, and wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in. Her kindness and generosity were only matched by her stubborn and feisty spirit.Heidi lived a full life surrounded by family, friends, her beloved dogs and cats, and everything in her favorite color purple. She was a devoted mom and grandma who spent countless hours cheering on her grandkids at sporting events and plays, buying them gifts, and having them over for movie nights. She knew how to make every one of them feel special.Heidi married Paul in 1993, and they spent 26 years living life to the fullest. They loved to pack up their trailer and tour the country with their dogs. They were both happiest in water and sunshine, and spent their weekends wave-running and lounging on the beach at Willard Bay. On those weekends Heidi often said, "This is my church."^Heidi opened her heart and home to every stray dog and cat that crossed her path. She worked tirelessly to help lost pets find their way home, or sometimes just to give them a home. She was a long-time financial supporter of the Humane Society.Even though animals held a special place in Heidi's heart, she didn't shy from extending her kindness to people too. She donated a kidney to save a stranger's life in 2004, simply because she heard he needed one. She was so happy to think her kidney helped a family keep their father.Heidi's life, while over too quickly, was energetic and happy. She touched countless hearts and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Paul Owen; loving sons, Brandon and Brett (Mariah) Jamison; stepdaughters, Taura (Josh) Scheer and Melanie Jackson; grandchildren: Karli, Kalli, Karston, Kamden, Kambri, Kardon, and Eve; mother, Jasmine Hazen; brother, Laine (Raelyn) Hazen; sisters, Terri (Val) Thurgood and Kristen (John) Hazen, and numerous nieces and nephews.She is also survived by her dogs: Ginger, Daisy, and Jax, and her cats, Violet and Amethyst.
